New research by Tourism Flanders shows that conferences offer enormous added value for Bruges: they strengthen the local economy, put the city on the international map and create opportunities for culture and encounters. A survey of conference participants shows that Bruges receives an overall rating of 8.9/10. Conference organisers even give Bruges a score of 9.5/10. The historical beauty of the city, its accessibility on foot, the leisure activities on offer and the focus on sustainability are particularly praised, which is no coincidence as these are elements that the Concertgebouw also strongly promotes.
Our conference calendar is already well filled for 2026, with six multi-day international conferences for clients such as KU Leuven, the European Democracy Fund, VLIZ (Vlaams Instituut voor de Zee) and REMA (Réseau Européen de Musique Ancienne). In the future, the Concertgebouw, together with Visit Bruges, BMCC and many other Bruges partners, will continue to focus on international business tourism. Last month, for example, we participated for the fourth time with a Bruges stand at IBTM, an international trade fair for conference organisers.
