Festival about what is no longer

Dealing well with ageing is an art, an art that Marco Beasley has mastered. He speaks openly about the impact of ageing on his work. When people talk about mental ageing, they quickly mention dementia. Youth Orchestra Flanders performs May by Louis Andriessen, his final orchestral work, written after he had already been diagnosed with dementia. Serieus Curieus explores the relationship between dementia and music, and together with Foton, Mark Fell and Kris Defoort, people with dementia give their all in a concert that really gets under your skin. Yet ageing need not be negative: what you may lose in mental or physical abilities, you gain in peace, wisdom and expertise. This is precisely what Christian Bakalov highlights in his living installation, which reflects his years of experience.
