Heavenly work by a stellar cast

In his Second Symphony, Mahler pushes the boundaries of what is possible for a choir and orchestra. He wanted its music to express the most exalted of ideas. To an already expanded orchestra, he added additional brass, bells, a choir and two vocal soloists. The result is an impressive orchestral structure perfectly suited to the celestial theme of the Auferstehung or Resurrection. Conducted by Iván Fischer, this experience will touch your soul!

Due to illness, soprano Christiane Kang is replaced by Eleanor Lyons for Mahler's Second symphony with the Budapest Festival Orchestra . Lyons knows the work and the orchestra inside out - her performance will no doubt be particularly gripping.
