From Rebel to Ravel

Two of Ravel’s masterpieces – the Piano Trio and Le tombeau de Couperin – enter into a Proustian dialogue with dances from early 18th century France. The transparency and directness of the late 19th century instruments remind us that these (Neo-) Baroque dances are not that different from each other.
