Choreographer and visual artist Tuur Marinus’s TH LNG GDBY is based on the now the legendary farewell concert The Long Goodbye, performed by electro-rock band LCD Soundsystem in New York in 2011. While 9 dancers weave their bodies into complex choreographic tapestries, they vocalise sound patterns that echo abstracted versions of the songs of that concert. The resulting dance and music are simultaneously elegant and clumsy, lyrical and stuttering, exact and indeterminate. TH LNG GDBY is a tribute to a seminal moment in pop history and an intriguing reflection on former and future forms of intense togetherness.
