Dance and song flow together in a polyphonic performance
t u m u l u s is an endless procession of thirteen singing and dancing bodies, moving as a single collective body. Its starting point is Chaignaud’s dream of bringing music and dance together in an all-encompassing work of art. Tumuli are artificial hills, built up over a grave, simultaneously landscape and mausoleum. The dancer-singers climb and dance on such a tumulus and delve into Franco-Flemish, Italian, English and German vocal music from the Renaissance to the 1970s.
