Savour Akram Khan’s multicultural universe

When Akram Khan saw Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper as a child, it felt foreign to him. He saw nothing of himself or his culture in it. In Outwitting the Devil, inspired by that haunting experience and by Tablet V, the most recent segment found from the Epic of Gilgamesh, he searches for a reflection of his own identity. Nearing the end of his career as a dancer, he is also commemorating his own choreographic work. Outwitting the Devil is a synergy of faith, stereotyping and culture and the evolution of all of these elements throughout time and at the beginning of a new phase in the life of the master himself.
