Iconic minimalism & spectacular percussion

Dame Evelyn Glennie is an icon: as a pioneering solo percussionist, she has inspired generations with her energy and musicality. Since childhood, she has been almost completely deaf and ‘hears’ sound through vibrations in her body. With that tactility, she infuses spectacle and dynamism into Higdon’s virtuoso Percussieconcerto. We hear the same intensity in The Desert Music, one of the most ambitious works by the American pioneer of minimalism, Steve Reich.
