It's a family affair
A clan, that’s very much what the Bachs were. For almost two hundred years this widely branched and extremely musical family dominated the musical life of Thuringia.
Johann Sebastian’s two wives, Maria Barbara and Anna Magdalena, provided him with no less than 20 children. Making music was part of this big family’s daily life; there was always music in the Bach household. During this years’ Bach Academy, there will be living room concerts, music by father and son, uncle and nephew, cheerful wedding cantatas and musical friendship. Artists and ensembles such as Collegium Vocale Gent, Vox Luminis, Freiburger BarockConsort, Maude Gratton and Christine Busch give musical voice to the big and little emotions that are an integral part of daily life.
