Workshop Waacking

This workshop offers an inspiring introduction to waacking, the expressive dance style that features prominently in the first section of Concerto Danzante by Ballet de Lorraine & Les Arts Florissants.
Originating in the queer disco scene of Los Angeles in the 1970s, waacking evolved into a powerful form of self-expression, characterised by dynamic arm movements, theatrical poses and a strong sense of musicality.
Under the guidance of Carla Parcianello, you’ll discover the basic principles of this style: posing, storytelling, character development, a sense of rhythm, and techniques for arm and leg work. An accessible workshop for anyone who wants to experience the energy, history and expressiveness of waacking up close.
