The female hand in polyphonic masterpieces
Maker Anna Danilevskaia deciphered and researched many anonymous compositions from manuscripts that were circulating in Flanders during the reign of Mary of Burgundy. Striking in many of these works is the feminine poetic ‘I’, or at least the ambiguously neutral character of the narrator. With carefully selected polyphonic masterpieces, Danilevskaia sheds light on the rich and complex inner life of women in the days of Mary of Burgundy.
