Hendrikx and his ensemble tame an entire menagerie
Even though it was almost universally embraced by the general public, Saint-Saëns did not consider his boisterous and playful Carnaval des animaux suitable for the concert stage. Inspired by Apollinaire's iconic collection of poems Le Bestiaire, which features 26 animals, Piet Swerts embroidered further on this theme in his colourful animal suite.
