Nina Simone joins the party of an inspired choreographer

Choreographer Trajal Harrell draws inspiration from music legend and civil rights activist Nina Simone. The catalyst is a personal encounter whose resonance only unfolds years later: the discovery of Simone as a voice, as a body, as an attitude. The choreography navigates the tension between voice and music, classical form and radical expression. A piece about listening, discovering what you’ve overlooked for years, and the irrevocable spell of an iconic figure.
