How does insignificant little man relate to the vast universe? Using the planets of our solar system as his anchor, artist Karl Van Welden seeks artistic answers to that question in a cycle called United Planets. His Mars series within that cycle focuses on human resistance to overwhelming physical forces. In a unique and surprising performance with pianist Frederik Croene, Van Welden explores the impact of catastrophe on our thinking.
