Young masters work with heritage

For his second project as a Maker, Tristan Driessens draws upon the musical riches he acquired in Istanbul. For seven years he studied there under masters such as Necati Celik and was initiated into the mysteries of the complex modal system, or makam, that forms the basis of Ottoman music. In dialogue with Michalis Kouloumis, he took on the challenge of writing a cycle of compositions that reflects his background in this system.
