Julie Calbert is a photographer and visual artist from Brussels. In her photos, installations and sculptures, she focuses on the relationship between memory, body, movement and environment. In her images, she experiments with changes, repetitions and imprints, applying layer upon layer. This approach allows her to capture time in matter. Via this transformational process, she creates new forms that drift between appearing and disappearing. In her work, hazy silhouettes, fragmented landscapes and defined objects evoke a universe in which variation and transformation unfold sensitive stories. Especially for the Concertgebouw’s 2025-26 season, which is dedicated to love and relationships, Julie created a photo series that reveals love in gestures, movement and body language. For this, she photographed six dancers from Bruges and its surroundings on Bruges’s former city ramparts. Love is revealed there in all of its multiplicity: from visible attachment to conflict and imbalance.
