Regular guest orchestra glitters in varied programme

In 2018 Sol Gabetta added the Herbert von Karajan Prize to her already bulging trophy cabinet. It goes without saying that she is one of the greats of her generation. Gabetta likes to highlight lesser-known works, such as Lutoslawski's tautly composed Cello Concerto. In his overwhelming Fifth Symphony, Shostakovich seems to be conforming to Stalin's cultural policy, after having been censured by the party earlier. But nothing is what it seems.

Cellist Sol Gabetta has to be replaced at the last minute due to an injury. Fortunately, with the Swiss soloist Christian Poltéra, we can count on a prepared and inspired performer.
