Solo concert by artistic leader of Manchester Collective

When it comes to breaking through the boundaries of classical music, Violinist Rakhi Singh is second to none. She handles new work every bit as convincingly as she does the classical repertoire. A 300-year-old Bach work stands fraternally next to Julia Wolfe’s intense LAD (originally for nine bagpipes); brand-new work ‘clashes’ with Gordon’s ‘salsa baroque’. In between, we hear the result of Singh’s blind date with composer Ellen Jacobs. This concert catapults us from past to present and back again. We will definitely be surprised.
