Operas, odes, songs, suites and hymns all flowed from Henry Purcell's pen. We are all familiar with Dido and Aeneas, The Fairy Queen and Hail, bright Cecilia. But what about his hundreds of other works, many of which are real gems? How come we are less familiar with those works? And what do we actually know about the man Purcell? In this course David Vergauwen sketches an overall picture of this English composer and his work.
