Star violinist shines bright in Beethoven
Beethoven’s iconic concerto is seldom heard on period instruments. Things get even more interesting when Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique, a model of orchestration technique in the 19th century, is given the same treatment. Antonello Manacorda briefly swaps his familiar Mahler Chamber Orchestra for Les Siècles. Together with star violinist Isabelle Faust, they guarantee us a soirée fantastique.
