In the last ten years of his life, Mozart regularly drew inspiration from a great role model: Johann Sebastian Bach. For instance, he gave a classical makeover to several of Bach’s preludes and fugues. On the 342nd anniversary of Bach’s birth – not coincidentally also European Early Music Day – Il Gardellino, together with pianist Olga Pashchenko, allows the melodic lines to merge in two of Mozart’s elegant yet profound concertos.
