What does a composer do when he just can’t choose? He combines. That is what Johannes Brahms did with these charming, dancing love songs for choir and piano four-hands. The 18 movements of his opus 52 were so popular that he promptly repeated the exercise in his opus 65. Brahms took the lyrics from arrangements of Latvian, Polish, Sicilian and Turkish songs German poet Daumer collected in his Polydora. BachPlus lets us hear how Brahms immortalised this love poetry.
