Herreweghe in timeless repertoire
Like Beethoven, the hero of all romantics, Robert Schumann composed a series of symphonies and concertos for piano, violin and cello. He completed both his Second Symphony and his Cello Concerto in just a few weeks. Marie-Elisabeth Hecker recently made a name for herself with her spirited recordings of Elgar, Schubert and Brahms. In this late Schumann masterpiece, she once again gives free rein to her love of the romantic concerto.
