Finished or unfinished: three historical symphonies
To his contemporaries, Spohr was a star, but nowadays he seems to have become a bit lost in the folds of history. Our resident orchestra sets things right for him, with his rather strange Historical Symphony: four movements that reflect just as many style periods and their iconic composers. Initially, Schubert also followed in the footsteps of the great masters, with his Sixth being the crown. But his highly personal Unfinished is brimming with daring and originality. A unique opportunity to hear these gems played on period Viennese instruments!
