'Living like a Burgundian' is a saying familiar to many bon vivants. In 1454 Mary of Burgundy's grandfather displayed his wealth and power by hosting what was probably the largest banquet ever held. But ‘commoners’ also loved a party. When Mary and her new husband entered Bruges, the city did its utmost to give them a festive welcome. By this time, Mary had already won their hearts, not with weapons, but with her vulnerability. 500 years later ClubMediéval and choreographer Lara Barsacq celebrate this joyous event with a contemporary interpretation of courtly dances from the dance book of Mary's daughter, Margaret of Austria.
