Our Season’s Thinker finds inspiration in Buddhist sand mandalas
Grain by grain, Buddhist monks create a sand mandala on the Concertgebouw stage. David Van Reybrouck meanwhile pens poems, word by word, fed by the busy monks’ unfailing zeal and concentration. On Sunday morning, our Season’s Thinker breaks the contemplative silence for a time by reciting his latest poetry, reflective and repetitive, to the rhythm of the trickling sand.
