Structures that breathe stories
Shelters for livestock in pastures and fields are so much a part of our environment and culture that they are rarely noticed. Yet the Belgian landscape is dotted with architectural gems. For this special project, photographer Servaas Van Belle travelled to every corner of Belgium in search of the most evocative stables and barns, before photographing them consistently under the same ideal lighting conditions. Mind you, for Van Belle, ‘ideal’ means: in thick fog.
