For the photography project SINCE WE ARE HERE, Anne-Marie Vandeputte immersed herself in the personal and creative worlds of female film directors and cinematographers. She observed how they think, explore, hesitate and make decisions during their artistic process.
The project pays tribute to the women behind the camera and to their essential contribution to the art of film.
We’re a long way from really understanding the female experience of being in the world. I would love to see more women directors because they represent half of the population – and gave birth to the whole world. Without them writing and being directors, the rest of us are not going to know the whole story.
