In his brand-new work, Ryoji Ikeda opens the doors to a spectacular sonic universe for organ and brass. The Japanese audiovisual and electronic music pioneer explores a palette ranging from dramatic brass explosions to subtle organ resonances. Marina Rosenfeld, too, uses St Salvator’s Cathedral as an acoustic laboratory brimming with sound and reverberation. She links the transition from sound to silence, from powerful organ outbursts to whisper-soft sounds, to the quieting of a human life. Both works resonate as an encounter between artistic mastery and life experience.
