Tragicomedy about complex love

Opera in the Concertgebouw? Most definitely! After Mozart's famous overture, this sparkling opera buffa tells us the story of Figaro's wedding. Figaro is soon to marry his beloved Susanna, but unfortunately wicked Count Almaviva has designs on her. Housekeeper Marcellina is meanwhile in love with Figaro and Cherubino with the countess. Everyone is thus amorously assailed and not by his or her beloved. But after the rain comes sunshine. After a delightful amorous chaos everyone gets his or her happy ending. The Gürzenich-Orchester Köln set exactly the right tone for Mozart's witticisms in this romcom avant la lettre.
