Sensual ballet in colourful tones

Few teachers have been as influential as Nadia Boulanger. Under her tutelage some of the greatest composers of the early 20th century have blossomed, among them Philip Glass, Astor Piazzolla and Aaron Copland. The Brussels Philharmonic combine Boulanger’s Fantasie variée with Ravel's ‘choreographic symphony’, in which Daphnis and Chloé get caught up in a whirl of suggestion, seduction and repulsion, before they fall into each other's arms to the tones of Ravel's delicately nuanced orchestral palette.
