In the winter of 1705, Bach travelled from Leipzig to Lübeck – a journey of 400 km – to hear the world-famous Dietrich Buxtehude perform. He stayed there for almost four months. Ignace Bossuyt presents a full picture of this lesser-known, yet exceptionally inspiring and innovative composer.
