The American audience was overly enthusiastic about Dvořák’s Symphony “From the New World”. This Symphony, bursting of vitality, is based on old slavery songs. Korngold’s virtuoso violin concerto takes us to Hollywood, awaking the setting of timeless movie classics. Composer Daan Janssens takes his turn to muse about the possibility of a New World: utopia or nightmare? Conductor Martijn Dendievel sets the tone for the answer.
