Annelien Van Wauwe and co. guide us through the French poetic repertoire

Clarinet player Annelien Van Wauwe gathered together talented young musicians to form the ensemble CAROUSEL. In this concert six of them join her to explore the autumnal colour palette of French fin-de-siècle composers such as Debussy and Ravel, who gracefully balance between tradition and innovation. In nine episodes, Season’s Composer Wim Henderickx gives voice to the Madonna della Macarena, Seville’s statue of the weeping Virgin Mary. Tears tumble from the harp, while the strings and winds tack between stillness and exuberant energy.
