Pieter Wispelwey has recorded Bach's Cello Suites on CD no less than three times: each time from a fresh perspective, each time at a key moment in his career. He is thus the ideal artist to spend time with as we gradually discover another Bach Suite, layer by layer. A stimulating speaker whets our ears.
Bach's Cello Suites have been intriguing listeners for some 300 years. Their music is like a voice from another world. Prior to Pieter Wispelwey’s performance of each of the suites, an inspired thinker reflects on his or her notion of time, from a philosophical, scientific, spiritual or other perspective.
