Masterly oratorios by Rolle and Telemann
The most famous liberation opera is probably Beethoven’s Fidelio. But this was also a popular theme among Baroque composers. Telemann and Rolle both recount the history of the ‘children of Israel’ and surprise us with their variety of form and instrumentation. Il Gardellino also present an oratorio by Rolle on the same theme. A liberating evening!
