Discover the 2017-2018 season

Experience metamorphosis during the 2017-2018 season in your Concertgebouw!

During the 2017-2018 season, you’ll see your Concertgebouw transformed. We’ll surprise and delight you with our brand-new polyphony festival Gold and with new themes for our highly successful December Dance Festival, Bach Academy Bruges, MAfestival and Budapest Festival.

Season 2017-2018 stands for Metamorphosis in every sense. Artist Emilie Lauwers’ season’s photos are the ultimate embodiment of this season’s dramaturgy. The work of our first Season’s Composer Frederik Neyrinck will be given particular attention this season. And for the very first time, we have appointed a Season’s Thinker - Alicja Gescinska - to illuminate and expound on the relevant themes.

Brand-new and innovative formats

We'll introduce you to some brand-new and innovative formats. In our ‘Out-of- the-Box’ project Club Surround, for example, you take a seat in the heart of the orchestra! And during our new format 'Salon Libeer', Julien Libeer brings you in-depth debate, illustrated with live music.

Starting this season, we enhance our programming with a variety of participation projects, aimed at various target groups. Many of these new projects tie in with a noteworthy new programme section: the Masterpiece Weeks. During each of these weeks, we’ll comprehensively explore a musical masterpiece: five different masterpieces from five different centuries.

Our new logo and new house style are also part of our metamorphosis. The Concertgebouw is characterised by its lines: it throws out lines to the city, to society and to the world… which is also in metamorphosis.

Concertgebouw Circuit

From September 2017, our new visitors’ trail, the Concertgebouw Circuit, will open us up even more, so that absolutely everyone can enjoy a total experience of architecture, visual art, acoustics, music, dance, sound art and our magical panoramic views of Unesco World Heritage City Bruges!

Moreover, the refurbished Concertgebouw Café will now, more than ever, be a vibrant meeting place in which to relax in an environment brimming with art.

We look forward to welcoming you many times during this season full of metamorphoses.
