Monteverdi in 21st century ears and eyes
A multiform choir no longer sings with the wind. It has reverted to a shapeless beginning, where all forms of love and struggle have yet to take shape. With utopian enthusiasm, director Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe stages Monteverdi's Madrigali guerrieri et amorosi. In an ancient cave, the performers’ song and dance emerge, as do new symbols and contemporary works of art. Present, past and future merge into a single point, a zero point.
