Ravel - La Valse

Belgian film maker and composer Thierry De Mey has studied the relationship between musical and choreographic movement since the eighties. Thanks to a close co-operation with the Brussels Philharmonic he is now able to go a step further. In Equi Voci a triptych of dance film projections accompanies Ravel's and Debussy's orchestral music. Ravel's Ma Mère L’Oye portrays the highlights of the fairy tales of Mother Goose in five short parts. It inspired Thierry De Mey to make a film which he created with sixty choreographers and dancers for the Opéra de Rouen. Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune is the basis for a choreography of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker / Rosas, part of her evening filling show D’un jour une nuit. The Brussels Philharmonic - Vlaams Radio Orkest will perform the music under the direction of Michel Tabachnik; Thierry De Mey edits the dance films live.
