SEUL À SEULS

The Seul à Seuls multimedia concert was the result of a close co-operation between Georges Aperghis and the Quatuor Hêlios. The unusual notation forms of the Greek-French composer's score constitute a kind of rhythmical skeleton around which the percussionists invent actions. Aphergis tried, in advance, to create a personal sonorous ‘territory’, world or place, for every individual musician, based on his/her personality. The result is four islands of unusual percussion instruments. This musical installation focuses on the theme of coexistence, on the place every person holds in the territory, the human and animal interaction. According to Aperghis, Seul à Seuls is ‘an acoustic invention, a mental theatre of the nightmares or dreams of our solitude’.
