In these days of noise, auditive pollution and hearing impairment, the festival weekend SHHHT!!! is a true relief. For three days the Concertgebouw clears the stage for tactile sounds, whispering instruments and voices. Whispering is soft, not fast but word for word. Contemporary composers work with great accuracy and for many of them this has resulted in silent aesthetics. The great group of musicians who set their shoulders to the wheel proves that this music, too, can have a great power of expression. There is new work by Mayke Nas, Joachim Brackx et de Matthew Shlomowitz, and a whole lot more at different locations. Let yourself be surprised… and remember: SHHHT!
