PETER GREENAWAY & BRODY NEUENSCHWANDER
FRI 16.05.08 / 20.00 / verwacht einduur: 22.00

The collaboration between the American composer David Lang and the film-maker Peter Greenaway began with the commemoration of the death of Horatio Nelson, the English admiral who died in the Battle of Trafalgar. Peter Greenaway wrote the libretto on the basis of three texts from English literature, Shakespeare’s The Tempest, Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Coleridge and Melville’s Moby Dick. The excerpts are interwoven and all refer to water, storm and the sea. Greenaway supplements the music and texts with beautiful images which he mixes on three large screens with the live calligraphy of Brody Neuenschwander.
